Nicola is the founder and joint Project Director of Catalyst Rwanda, an initiative set up in 2011 to organise sustainable programmes of arts activities with vulnerable young people and professional development programmes with emerging Rwandan artists.
Our first project is a hip hop dance programme with former street children and young breakdancers in Kigali, which began in 2011 and is ongoing.
In July 2012, two former street children and hip hop dancers, Willy Mutabazi (18) and Didier Harerimana (10), together with Rafiki Callixte, the visionary project manager of Les Enfants de Dieu centre for street children, Rwanda, came to London to present Catalyst Rwanda’s work with Les Enfants de Dieu at the Southbank Centre’s Africa Utopia Festival. 19 July 2012.
Catalyst Rwanda is working with several Rwandan partners, including Les Enfants de Dieu, a residential rehabilitation centre for street children, Ishyo Arts Centre in Kigali, and Kwetu Film Institute.
