Since 2019, Nicola has been the Director/CEO of FACT Liverpool, responsible for artistic and executive leadership of this major UK cultural centre. FACT’s mission is to enrich lives and shape the future through Film, Art and Creative Technology. FACT, which opened in 2003, houses three large art galleries, three cinema screens, a media and events space, a lab for talent development, research and learning, a café and a bar.
A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES
FACT is a world-leading centre for art, film and the creative use of technology. We champion new ideas and experiences, nurturing the next generation of voices and visionaries to create a world of possibilities. From our award-winning building in Liverpool, we present a vibrant programme of contemporary art that embraces new technology and explores digital culture. With cinema partner Picturehouse, our film programme showcases the best in independent, arthouse, foreign language and quality mainstream cinema from around the world.
TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES AT THE HEART OF THE CITY
FACT is a friendly, social space, working with artists and people to create transformative experiences that spark the imagination and enrich lives. We commission and produce artworks, exhibitions, projects and events that bring people together, both physically and virtually. We screen films in partnership with communities and in neighbourhoods around Liverpool that tell the stories of diverse communities from our region and beyond.
MAKING SENSE OF THE WORLD TODAY
As a centre for new stories and visions, we provide platforms and opportunities for people to create, listen, interact, and make sense of the world today. Our Studio/Lab talent and skills development programme enables artists, creative professionals and young people to develop their practices and careers. Our learning programme collaborates with communities, particularly young people and intergenerational groups, working with them to explore their understanding of the world through artistic production and digital tools.
